The 5 Things Clients Notice Before They Ever Reach Out

By the time someone fills out your inquiry form, they've already made a decision about you. Here are the five things that shaped it — most of which you've probably never thought to optimize.
1. How Long Your Website Takes to Load
Clients won't wait. If your site takes more than three seconds to load, more than half will leave before seeing a single image. This is especially true for mobile users browsing venues and vendors during their lunch break.
2. Your Instagram Bio
You have about three seconds and 150 characters to communicate who you are, who you serve, and why they should care. Most bios I audit bury the lead or skip it entirely. Lead with transformation, not title.
3. Your Most Recent Post
Recency signals activity. If your last post was six weeks ago, clients wonder if you're still in business. Consistency matters more than perfection — a simple, on-brand post beats a polished one that never goes up.
4. Your Reviews (and How You Respond to Them)
Five stars are great. How you respond to a four-star review is even more telling. Clients read your responses to understand how you handle feedback, and whether you'd show up for them if something went sideways.
5. Whether You're Easy to Contact
If your contact form is buried three clicks deep, your email address isn't listed anywhere, and your DMs are closed — you're leaving inquiries on the table. Friction kills conversions. Make it effortless.
Every one of these touchpoints is something I examine in a brand or online presence audit. Because what clients experience before they reach out determines whether they reach out at all.
